What is Peace?

Posted on January 24, 2008. Filed under: 0. Peace, 1. World Peace |

Peace is when all human kinds in all parts of the world live without any fear of harm of any kind whether it is physical and/or mental.

  • No war no killing no torturing

  • Streets are free of violence

  • When there is justice for all

  • No one bosses around anyone

  • When one carries his/hers responsibilities to his/her ability and understanding

  • When one is able to travel from point A to point B anywhere in the world without being harassed

  • Each human kind works for well being of all others

To me, that is Peace

  • No discrimination of any kind

  • All live in the world of understanding

  • No harassment of any kind

  • Gender, color and ethnics background are accepted as is and are not a factor for discrimination

  • A person is accepted and gets respect by everyone for his/her uniqueness; but not by what he/she looks like physically (so called beautiful, handsome, ugly and etc.)

  • All are surrounded by their loved ones, friends and other peace lovers

To me, that is Peace

  • When there is freedom of speech

  • A person is free in what he/she believes without political, religious or any organization oppression

  • When arm races are eliminated and instead the funds are used for basic necessities to the needy

  • When weapons manufacturing facilities are converted to other helpful such as medicine, food, clothing and etc.

To me, that is Peace

  • When there is love and understanding to one another

  • When everyone thinks and works for common benefits

  • When the media has no news of any killing or fighting anywhere in the world

To me, that is Peace

Peace is a necessity. We all need to work together to promote peace and to bring it to life. Please do not waste your energy, your resources and your time to destroy others. We need each other.

What are your thoughts about peace?

And what are you doing to bring it to life?

Please share you view.

Thanks,

A. B. W.

PEACE is a hard won human right on the one hand and a state of mind no one and nothing can shake on the other hand. External peace is the human right and internal personal peace is the latter. The blessing of enjoying both is the ideal circumstance but the reality of enjoying the “peace that passes understanding” while unrest and conflict rages on everywhere is exhilarating and glorious - the human spirit rising above adversity inspires over and over again. The love of money and everything money buys destroys inner peace and keeps flowing until the destructive forces wreak havoc on everything associated with that deranged love. The tide only shifts when loving something and someone greater than money emerges - hating war, hating torture, hating … just never cut it! Sacrificial love - it has to cost you something precious - changes the world all the time. As cliched as this sounds, love is the answer and the toughest act to produce - YES, love is sacrificial action. You’ll never get there waiting for the emotion of love but the pre-emptive strike of love may follow a flood of emotions later by way of a gift - tears of joy. Unfortunately, many want to feel warm fuzzy feelings without muscling their way into loving deeply. Sorry, no short cuts to peace but it sure is a worth while journey. Let’s hope and pray there are many more takers, leading by example. To quote President Clinton from last night’s DNC, we can make a greater impact for good “by the power of our example rather than the example of our power.” -Marta

Marta, your post is profoundly thoughtful and inspiring. It is amazing, when we pause for a moment and reflect about peace, which we take so mach for granted, how much depth there is to it, how much it encompasses our existence. Love and freedom have no meaning with out it and the vice versa. The lack of peace negates our humanity. Marta, you have deep grasp please write often to share your reflection.
